Smalltown Superstar were scraped together from the leavings of a lot of Richmond bands like Alter-natives, Holy Rollers, Kepone, King Sour, and Mao Tse Helen. Vocalist Carolyn Amy brought the whole crew together to create the gurgling punky math rock evident on their album, Lanes 23 and 24.
